Angela & Matt: Portrait

_MG_6105A

On the same day that Lauri and I shot Bill and Emily's engagement session, we also shot Angela and Matt's "engagement" session. I have actually known Angela for a very long time, although I haven't seen her since high school. Angela and I go way back to the girl scouts in elementary school. :-) So you can imagine how surprised and flattered I was when Angela contacted Tangerine to shoot a portrait session of her and her husband. She explained that when they were planning their wedding they hadn't had the extra funds for an engagement session, but she had always wanted one. So for Christmas last year a portrait session with the photographer(s) of her choice was one of her gifts. And she picked us after randomly finding us on the internet. Yay! :-)

Love this photo that Lauri got with their pup Dexter.

One of the requests that Angela made when she first contacted us was that we do a few photos with their dog Dexter. So our first order of business was getting those photos done before Angela's sister came and picked him up. He was a very good boy and it went great.

After that, the four of us wandered around the campus of Bucks County Community College for a bit. It's so beautiful there we could have shot in a million locations.

Angela and Matt have been married for 2 years now, but they've been together since the end of high school. They have such an easy affection between them that it was easy to catch great moments like this. :-)

Other than including Dexter, the only other request Angela made was that we reschedule in case of rain. Unfortunately on their wedding day it poured, so they didn't get a lot of great outside photos. Lucky for us, the day of their shoot was perfect golden fall weather.

Angela was quick to laugh. We love that. :-)

Angela and Matt, we had an awesome time shooting your "engagement" session and catching up! We hope these photos are totally worth the 2+ year wait. :-)

Bill & Emily: Engagement

_MG_1487texture

I have actually been friends with Bill & Emily for a while now. Bill is an amazing, amazing (emphasis on amazing) piano player and he has worked with my good friend Lauren in their band Almost Awake for several years. So I was beyond thrilled when Bill and Emily decided to have Tangerine shoot their wedding in December! :-) They are such genuinely good people and they work so well together they are a pleasure to spend time with. Lauri and I had a blast shooting their session and can't wait for the wedding.

Since Bill and Emily's romance started at their alma mater Temple U, we decided to head back there to shoot their session. A little Temple love...

Apparently if you go to Temple, the Owl here is the place to meet...or so they'd have you believe in the tours. :-)

I think they've got cool down...

_MG_1327

They were good sports and did a little jumping. :-)

I love this one that Lauri took of them at the Bell Tower. We had to brave the skateboards for it.

We tried to find a little bit of nature in the heart of North Philly...

Bill & Emily, we hope you had as much fun as we did on the shoot and we can't wait for the wedding! You guys ROCK! :-)

New Yoooork City!

IMG_6721A
On Friday Lauri and I headed up to NYC to surprise-celebrate Alissa's Birthday. We hid out at our friend Kira's apartment and when Alissa arrived to meet Kira for lunch we burst out of the bedroom. It was a success and Alissa was way surprised! YAAAY! We gave her our gifts and then headed out in the rain for sushi. Mmmm...delicious $8 lunch sushi special.

_MG_2658

As an added bonus, I got to catch up with an old friend, Jeremy Tarbox (gotta include a last name that's that cool), who was in town for a short while. Way back in the day Kira and I studied abroad in Sydney, Australia and Jeremy was one of our good Aussie friends when we were over there. It was awesome to get to see him and catch up.

IMG_2671

After lunch we were all going to get mani/pedis but the place was all booked up. :-( So instead we tried hats on since Lauri has been in the market for a new hat. What do we think of this option?

IMG_2677

After leaving the hat shop we couldn't decide what to do. So rather than make a decision and act on it as Jeremy suggested we do (since we were standing outside in the rain) we decided to not make a decision, and instead take turns taking photos of each other jumping up and down. :-) Much more fun. We told Jeremy we didn't want to hear anymore of his rational ideas.

IMG_6730A

Here is the hands down favorite....

IMG_6746A

Jeremy had a great time not only taking the photos...but also holding all our bags. Yaaaay...fun for him!

IMG_6737A

and one more fun one...

IMG_6749A

More photo fun back at Kira's place...we did do other stuff. I swear. :-)

Our direction for these two shots..."crack up." Good actors...no?

Finally, we all headed out to a house party to end our night. Lauri and I opted not to bring our cameras...but Alissa took this photos which we just had to post. Us with this year's Dwight (from The Office) look alike contest winner!!! On Saturday morning Alissa and Corey, aka Dwight, headed to Scranton, PA for The Office convention and Corey, not surprisingly, took home the big prize...well actually, no prize, but he was the winner.

It was a great day...Happy Birthday to Alissa! :-)
