Allison & Michael: Wedding for Candid Moments Photography

I recently had the opportunity to be a second shooter for Doug Burns of Candid Moments Photography again. Working with Doug is a ton of fun, and I always walk away feeling like I've learned a little bit more. Here are just a few of my shots from Allison and Michael's wedding for Candid Moments.

The Brooklyn Bridge

Bridge8.jpg

So a couple of weekends ago Amy and I went to visit Alissa in Brooklyn. We wanted to do a fun photo shoot on the Brooklyn Bridge and decided to go ahead and wake up at 4:30am and do the whole sunrise thing. Now, I'm not reeeeeally a morning person, but I have to say that it was totally worth it. Not only was the light amazing and the bridge incredibly empty...but we got to see this crazy girl (below) climb out on the bridge supports. Fortunately she was just whimsical...not suicidal, and we saw her climb down not long after. Little too whimsical for our taste though. :-)

Bridge10.jpg

Alissa has been incredibly patient waiting for this post while I worked on other photo projects and packed for a big move that I'm making this weekend (or thought about packing, the truth is I haven't packed a thing). But this weekend Alissa is leaving for South Africa to teach there for the rest of the summer, so I had to get this post up stat!

And here is Amy...who also patiently waited for the post...and was a much better subject once the crazy climbed off the bridge. :-)

If you've noticed that these photos are different than others, there is a reason for that. Jason bought the Jesh de Rox fine art textures for me recently and I have had the best time experimenting with them on some of these photos. If you don't know his work, I recommend you check it out. It's amazing.

Anyway, if you'd like, you can click here for a slideshow of some more photos of Alissa and Amy and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Now I must go pack...for real. ;-)

Michele & Gary: Engagement

MG4

We met Michele only about a month ago when she booked us to photograph her and her fiancee Gary's wedding...THIS WEEKEND! We had to quickly squeeze in an engagement session, and luckily everything worked out perfectly. We chose downtown Ambler for their engagement session because it has that sort of small downtown main street feel to it and we thought it would make a fun backdrop for their photos.

It was really super hot that day but Michele and Gary were troopers. Michele promised Gary some Rita's water ice to keep him motivated and it worked. So we made our way down main street to the train station and took some fun shots down there.

And after it was all said and done, as promised, Michele and Gary made their way to Rita's for some well deserved water ice :-) (It was REALLY hot!)

Anne & Daniel: Wedding

DA9.jpg

On 7/7/2007 we had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Anne and Daniel. Since they don't actually live in the area, but were having their wedding in Bryn Mawr where Anne attended college, they booked us without meeting and we actually didn't meet for the first time until the day before the wedding. It was wonderful to get to know them throughout the day and to see how much they truly love each other.

They began dating in high school, and spent their years in college making the long bus trip every other weekend to see each other (Anne at Bryn Mawr and Dan at American in Washington D.C.). So it is no surprise that there was a lot of talk of devotion at their wedding. A distance that might have been a strain on most couples, served to strengthen their bond and commitment to one another. They are a wonderful couple who we are certain have many years of happiness ahead of them.

Here are some photos from the day, and check out the link to the slideshow at the bottom to see some more of our favorites.

Anne was just beaming. I don't think there's ever been such a calm bride on her wedding day.

During the vows both Anne and Daniel were overcome with emotion. Anne's vows were sprinkled with a mix of tears of joy and giggles (which led to giggles from the wedding guests as well as the bridal party).

After the ceremony we headed over to Bryn Mawr for some formal photos.

The reception was an intimate lunch. The perfect end to a touching wedding.

Thank you Anne and Dan for being so kind to us. It was a pleasure photographing your wedding. We hope you had a wonderful time on your honeymoon.

Big News!

Sooo, this past weekend Mikey and I got engaged and I think I can safely say that I am the happiest girl on the entire planet right now :-)

Friday night we went out to dinner and he was acting really weird. Every time I would ask him if everything was OK, he would just start to laugh. So we finished dinner and went to the car where he pulled out a t-shirt and asked if I wanted to play a game. The game consisted of him blindfolding me FOR AN HOUR (he later admitted he didn't really think that part through - the whole being blindfolded for an hour part) and him driving us up to Muhlenberg where we both went to college. He took off the blindfold and we walked to a bench in front of the building where we had our first Italian class together freshman year and we first became aware of who each other was (I was the "quiet girl who came to class the first day in her pjs" and he was the "guy who always got called on and never knew any of the answers"). We sat on the bench and he read me the most amazing letter that he had written for me (I choked back sobs the entire time) and then he asked me to close my eyes as he got down on one knee. When he finally told me I could open them, there he was kneeling in front of me with the ring placed inside the shell I found for him on our vacation last summer and I immediately said YES! And then he reminded me that he didn't ask anything yet, so I let him finish, and then said yes again :-)

So I'm engaged! To the most amazing, sweet, funny, compassionate, talented person I have ever known.

Here is my ring that I LOVE:

And here I am on Saturday after Katie and I finished shooting a wedding, looking exhausted but soooo very happy:

Hooray!

Katrina & Geoffrey: Wedding

_MG_7197

Last weekend I went to Cape Cod with Jason for his brother's wedding. Geoffrey and Katrina were married on the beach and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. It was a beautiful ceremony followed by a laid back reception at a beach front restaurant. Perfect.

Jason...the best man. :-)

Sarem & Tony: Engagement

Sarem and Tony are a super awesome couple and we just adore them. We had the pleasure of doing their engagement session at Longwood Gardens about a week and a half ago and we couldn't have asked for a better location. It's so gorgeous there! It was the perfect backdrop for their photos and they were so much fun to work with. We can't wait for their wedding in August (a two day affair with over 400 guests!). Here are a few from their engagement session with a link to a slideshow of some more at the end. :-)

Can you tell we LOVED Sarem's shoes??

Here we are trying to get creative and being inspired by Jesh de Rox. He is this amazing photographer that we happened across through our blog stalking who created his own textures for his photos and we are both slightly obsessed. So here is an attempt at our own textures, and while not quite as fantastic, the effort is there ;-)
